Day 1/ Sunday: Arrival Managua
After completing customs and immigration formalities at Managua international airport you will be met by your driver and guide to transfer the short distance to your City hotel.

Day 2 / Monday: Managua - Matagalpa
This morning you will travel out of the Capital city into the Nicaraguan highlands and the coffee growing region around Matagalpa. You will have a stop in the city where you can try some of the locally produced coffee before heading into the countryside and the tropical cloud forest where your hotel is located. In the afternoon there is a chance to stretch your legs and see the local agriculture on a coffee plantation. After you can enjoy the grounds and the hotel, go bird watching or just relax in the cool mountain air. (Approx. 2 hour drive)
Day 3 / Tuesday: Matagalpa – Las Peñitas – Leon
Today you will head to the hottest region of Nicaragua and the Pacific Coast at Las Peñitas & Poneloya. You will arrive at the beach in time to have lunch at one of the beach front restaurants or take time to walk along the beach or swim in the Pacific Ocean. In the afternoon you can take an optional tour to visit the nature Reserve of Isla Juan Venado where you will see many species of water birds and perhaps turtles and caimans in the mangroves.

Day 4 / Wednesday: Leon
This morning your guide will take you on a tour of the Colonial City of Leon, once the Revolutionary Centre of the Country and now a bustling University town. In the afternoon you can wander the streets of City exploring on your own or take a tour to Cerro Negro, the only active cinder cone volcano in Central America that you can hike and descend sand-boarding.
Day 5 / Thursday: Leon – Ometepe Island
An early start is worthwhile in order to cross Lake Nicaragua on the ferry to the Island of Ometepe, the Nicaraguan utopia. Once on the island you will visit the fresh water spring of Ojo de Agua where you can swim and relax in the crystal clear waters set amongst the forest. On the way, we will pass by the famous Playa Santo Domingo and have some time to relax on the beach and enjoy the Great Lake Nicaragua.
You will be staying on the shores of Lake Nicaragua and can visit the nature reserve of Charco Verde which is located right beside your hotel.

Day 6 / Friday: Ometepe - San Juan del Sur - Granada
This morning you will return to the mainland and then drive first to the colourful and famous town of San Juan del Sur, located just on the edge of the Pacific coast. We will have some time to enjoy the surroundings and walk around and enjoy fresh seafood on one of the numerous beach front restaurants. Continuation to Granada where you can explore the city on your own, relax in the hotel garden or have a drink on the popular Calzada street.

Day 7 / Saturday: Granada - Masaya
This morning, your guide will take you on a walking tour of the main points of interest in the City Centre, like the Merced church and the San Francisco Convent including the pre-Columbian statues. Then, your guide will take you to the largest handicraft market in Nicaragua and the active Masaya Volcano, where you can drive right up to the crater rim and peer into the “mouth of hell”. In the late afternoon, you can take a boat tour around Las Isletas, the tiny inhabited islands of volcanic origin that are home to many species of birds and some notable Nicaraguans as well.

Day 8: Sunday – Departure
Your driver will take you to Managua to take your flight out or to connect with an extension tour. (Approx. 1 hour drive)
